Editor Feedback
-
@sirenmakeup Could you let me know what version of iOS you’re running on your iPad, which you can find by visiting http://supportdetails.com? We have some fixes pending for some issues on iOS 8 that I’m hoping will fix the problems you’re having.
-
@cassandrademoorselby Yes, removing the sticky option from the post will return it to appearing on your blog in normal order by time.
-
@thejuicenut Some fixes are coming very soon for issues on iOS 8. In the meantime, you can download and try the WordPress app or use the classic editor by adding /wp-admin/post-new.php to the end of your site address. Thanks for your patience!
-
@ifmomsaysok Thanks for your feedback, I’ve noted your votes.
I did want to clarify that HTML is supported in the HTML tab, there’s just not a toolbar yet to make adding it easier.
-
If I add “wp-admin/post-new.php” to my web address, does that automatically take me to the original editor if I click on the “edit” button on any of my pages?
Also, where do I add it so that is permanent (or do I have to add it every time?)
Sorry, I am not much of a techie, which is why the old version enabled me to manage my sites efficiently and why this new version is causing me so much grief
-
@petetresadern, if you want to edit or make a new post/page with the classic editor, you’ll have to use a user-script or take many more clicks to go through WP-Admin.
The user scripts have been updated for the “new, not-improved, less functional” editor.

@kriskarkoski thanks for the response. I expected the Format feature to look like the screenshot you included. I’m using the new Dyad theme, and in the Classic Editor it supports Standard and Image formats.
With the New Editor, no alternate formats are given.
(There is no format option listed under More Options.)
It’s not a deal-breaker. I still like the theme, and I can always go back into the Classic Editor to make the edit, but it would be nice to have that feature with the New Editor.
Thanks also for the clarification on HTML in Text mode.

a few days later and I’m back again.
MORE AND MORE TIMES I SEE PEOPLE ASKING TO REVERT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE EDITOR, THE ONE ON THE WP ADMIN PAGE.
REALISTICALLY, WE SHOULD ALL BE HAPPY TO PROGRESS WITH THE TIMES AND INSTEAD WE’RE ALL HEADING BACKWARDS BECAUSE FOR SOME UNFATHOMABLE REASON, THIS EDITOR WAS PUBLISHED BEFORE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.When are all these ‘fixes’ going to happen?
Please, we need to know how long it’s going to take. a few days? a few weeks? Will we all have the features we know and love in the new year? Are you just ignoring us?
I just don’t understand why this has been done. Why couldn’t there have just been an update, instead of completely changing (should say ruining) people’s blogging experience?
-
Thanks for your response. I’m reluctant to try the app because when I looked when this all started happening the reviews indicated that it wouldn’t load. I am hoping it won’t take long for the patches to appear.

Thanks for the feedback; as I say, I am not a techie, but I have a number of sites, some with 100’s of pages.
I will try and work out which is the simplest, non techie, workaround for me, although as it appears that WP-Admin is only a temporary solution (assuming it is being taken away) I think my time will be better spent finding a new service provider ….. it’s a shame because I have encouraged a number of my colleagues to utilise WORDPRESS but now I am feeling that I have let them down by recommending it.
I am more than happy to have a new editor, but with the full functionality of the old one …. that, in my humble view is “moving forward”

To those who really love how the “new editor” auto saves: The old editor did exactly the same thing in the same way! The auto save is NOT new!!!!!
I don’t know how and can’t see how anyone can work on their site or blog using a phone or tablet (well, maybe a large tablet), but now I’m reading that even tablet users are experiencing problems. There are what maybe 15 phone and tablet wordpress users and a million PC wordpress users?
I guess wordpress wants to become a cell phone service company instead,….well, why not just announce it and do it? I guess for the rest of us all we can do is hope that wordpress goes out of business. As for putting back the missing features and fixes…..NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! We computer customers are being ignored and pissed on!! The proof will be when those things happen and my advice is do not hold your breath.
The admin dashboard IS going away! I don’t know when, but can confidently predict that it will be soon, like within the next 1 to 3 months.
We are being lied to again. I quote from the so-called support people here: “We have no plans on getting rid of the admin dashboard” followed only minutes later by “We can’t say it will never, ever be removed. We plan to be around for a long time and things change. But I can say with confidence that WP Admin will be around indefinitely with no discussions about removing it whatsoever.” followed by “As people have noticed, there’s features there that aren’t in the editor (new) yet (see that word?) and some prefer that interface. We plan to continue offering a choice between WordPress.com and WP Admin, but WordPress.com is unique to us, so most of our energy is towards improving that instead”.
Back and forth, back and forth and all of that within just one statement. First they say it will be around for a very long time and there are no plans to change it, then they say “things change”. Then they go back to saying that the Admin dashboard will be around indefinitely. Then they turn around again and say the features of the admin dashboard are not in the new editor YET. Then they again say they plan on continuing to offer the choice, but they previously stated that plans change.WP is trying to have their cake and eat it to on the backs of the users. WP, you can’t have it both ways!
Stop the wishy-washy statements, deceit and lies and tell the truth!
The real change that will happen if this keeps up will be WP going under due to loss of all customers. That’s the change I see. -
I’m okay with it for the most part, but is there still an option to see “images uploaded to post”? That’s something I use quite a lot.
-
@littlepunkryo That filter is not in the new editor yet, but I will add your vote for bringing it back.
-
I’m having a horrible time with this new update. Every time I try to post or even just catch up on the blogs I follow via the reader it crashes both my Kindle and my IPad. Is anyone else having this problem? I’m ready to tear out my hair!
-
Didn’t like having to select text then scroll all the way up to the link button, then not having the option to link to existing content easily.
-
-
@cadburypom3708 if you’re having issues outside of the editor I’m not sure that’s related to this launch but a good first step would be clearing your browser cache.
We also just launched some improvements for iOS 8 so that may help as well.
-
I have gone back to the admin editor which works perfectly for me – I am on IOS 9.1 by the way.
Do you have any timetable when we can expect the new editor to have the elements that most of us still want i.e. Spellcheck, wider view, etc.? understanding this might have been better released as a beta test until all kinks were worked out I am content to stay with the admin editor until the corrected new editor is released
