Editor Feedback

@moraghughson At this time the new editor only supports one custom message for all social media services that are selected. You can always uncheck ones that allow longer messages like Facebook, include hashtags and a short message for Twitter for example, and then manually share the post on Facebook with more than 140 characters.

@toutparmoi when selecting an image from the Media Library you should see an Edit button in the bottom left corner that allows you to customize the alt text. Right now this is only available pre-insert, but we will be adding it back so you can edit it after the image is inserted as well.

@mymusemoviesmusicbooks I think some of the code that’s being removed in the editor got removed here as well. Could you paste the HTML version of your post on Pastebin then reply with the resulting link here so we can take a closer look at what’s being removed? Thanks!

@tj6james6 You can get to the classic WP Admin editor by adding /wp-admin/post-new.php to the end of your site address

Please answer this. Why is it impossible to add a border to a picture with the new editor? The feature was removed from the visual editor, and there are no tools to do it withe the html editor. I do not have the option or know how to implement an option for custom css so I add a border to every picture on my pages.
I format my pages with a small image left justified. Text is to the right. There is never enough text to flow to the next line. To start a new line I have to type in < div style=”clear: both;” > < /div > ?nbsp; If I click to visual mode it removes the ?nbsp. This means I have to fix every picture on the page manually.
You have a product that forces the user to have to use both visual and html modes, and the basic switching from one mode to another mode corrupts the entered data. That is a problem.

@stardawntravel The post should be auto-saved every 30 seconds or so. If you’re disconnected you will see a warning appear at the top of the Editor. If you lose any posts in the future please contact support at http://support.wordpress.com/contact so they can help look for it or troubleshoot why it’s being lost, such as a browser extension interfering with our auto-save feature.

@lyagushka Thanks for sharing your browser and version. What operating system are you on (OS X, Windows, iOS, Android, etc.)? If you’re not familiar with the version you can find it by visiting http://supportdetails.com/ as well.
We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue yet, but are still looking into it.

@fyribooks The Copy a Post feature is only available in the WP Admin editor at this time. You can get there by adding /wp-admin/post-new.php to the end of your site address.

Could the new editor be the cause of the glitch I am experiencing? I am not very clued up when it comes to the technical gubbins of blogging. I posted my query here (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/formatting-problems-in-preview?replies=2#post-2503785) but essentially I cannot post at the moment as I cannot get the formatting to conform and my image links are not working. Has that been something others have experienced too?
TIA
Laura

Bring back word count. I really miss it.
Word count has been added in the bottom right corner
–Decrease font of Title, so I can see it all in my draft. Or at least let it wrap.
–Remove default “Uncategorized” category. Currently I have to remember to uncheck it even after I’ve selected a category.
—-It sure would be nice if I could copy and paste into image captions. All of these are on our list to address in the future :)
What happened to drag-and-drop for media uploads?
This should still work, with a drop zone appearing when you drag an image over the Editor. If you’re not seeing it could you share your browser and operating system versions from http://supportdetails.com/

@papict Hi Laura! Are you writing your posts entirely in the new Editor at wordpress.com/post or pasting in part of it from another program?
As for the images they should be embedded automatically if they are on a line of their own within the post content, but if you’re not seeing that just reply with a link to an image you’re having trouble with and I can take a closer look!

To make the images open full-size when clicked, after inserting an image click the image, then click the link icon in the toolbar. This will auto-fill the full-size image URL, which you can save to return to the previous behavior.
I want to be able to add an external link when someone clicks on the photo.
Why would a pre-existing feature be removed i an upgrade?!

Hi
Despite the iOS8 patches I am still having problems: when I come out of preview or have edited a blog post, when I go back to All Posts and choose another to edit, it can only load the title but no body of text. I have to come out of WordPress and come back in again each time. Also (sorry there is always an also it seems), when I try to copy the shortlink it is unresponsive for a long time with the cursor jumping about before it will eventually highlight and allow me to copy. -
@pieonthetrail You can add an external link with the same process, but instead of saving the URL that’s pre-filled after clicking the link icon type or paste in the URL you wish to use instead and save the change

Thanks for responding. I did paste some of the text in from Word (where I kept notes) but they were just short phrases. Furthermore, I have done that before and never experienced a problem. Is that the issue with the formatting? Is there a way to rectify it that does not involve rewriting my drafts from scratch.
The image links are on a line of their own when I write in editor but are all part of the squashed up, unformatted text when I view it in preview. I suppose that could be what is stopping the links from appearing as images then.
This is my post that I published today (scheduled to publish before I knew there was a problem) and, as you can see, the first half worked just fine but the second half has no paragraph breaks and the images don’t function.
