How do I revert back to the older, better editor?
It’s an insult to our intelligence to have this new editor promoted as improving our blogging experience. The reverse is the truth. Using the new editor is more difficult and it takes longer to do the same things with did before with ease. More to the point is that when creating a new editor a reasonable expectation of users which is having all of the same features that are in the classic editor ought to have been a no brainer.
WordPress.com Staff have been making these changes for two years. Read:
https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/dashboard-update/
and https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/11/16/new-high-speed-editor/You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

For now I have solved the frustrating problem of not being able to get my painting images to post. Open my blog, click on MY SITE, go down and click on POSTS, below that chose ADD NEW. That opens a good editor to type in TITLE, ADD MEDIA, (on the left pick your category and add tags, if you use them. NOW THE IMPORTANT THING…top right side shows DRAFT. Click on the arrow and chose PENDING REVIEW. Then PUBLISH. Hope this will work for some of the other frustrated bloggers who wish to post their photos. There is a small area to the right, also, where you can type some information, if desired.

@timethief
Thanks and I noticed it had been corrected just b4 going offline y’day afternoon. -
@fongteacher – AGREE totally
LINKS ARE ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL – it’s another reason new editor I don’t use new editor because selecting from all my historical posts is essential because I need to cross-references to related material in over 900 posts/pages.

two more questions:
1. in the reader (which has also changed together with the editor), there used to be a link to “my comments”. It is gone now (only the link to “my likes” is left). Could you bring it back? It was really helpful to have it.2. The function of going back one screen fluctuates. It does not work in all WP screens, and it comes and goes. I do not know if it has anything to do with the new editor, but it seems to have been changing more in the last few days.

Is there any staff online?
Have they moved elsewhere to support us (and are we’re going to be noticed about that?)At the moment folks like timethief and rjaybee and other members are doing the job that I expect WP staff to do.
Actually, I expected those who maintain WP.com to know more about blogging and care less about fancy stylish looking beta-software – but heck, lamenting doesn’t help.

I just don’t understand why they would push out a new interface that clearly wasn’t ready and waiting for features to be implemented. The old interface should have been kept until the new one was complete. It’s like a software developer putting out an alpha version and telling people they can no longer use the stable one.

I was a critic of Beep Beep Boop when it appeared without warning in August of 2014. Staff should be commended for the new editor, which I think of as Son of Beep Beep Boop. It’s definitely an improvement. Nevertheless, I continue to use the classic editor, which is far superior, although getting to it for creating new posts or editing old ones has been intentionally made into a multi-click effort. I’m used to that by now so it’s not a problem, and I’ll keep my blog here at WordPress as long as the classic editor remains available . However, I still wish our choice of editors could be set as one of the preferences for a blog, so that the classic editor would be as accessible as it used to be.
The real reason I’m posting here is to test whether staff still have me on moderation. The last time I commented (about a successor to the Coraline theme), it took around two days for my innocuous comment to appear. That was three months ago, and I haven’t bothered to comment in the support forums since then.

I have now been living with this new editor and I must admit I was not happy at the beginning. I tried it but reverted to the old editor. However, after being able to download the new Apple app on my computer I decided to try it again. I have now got used to it. Ok, perhaps because I do not have the same problems as others. My photos are in an external site and I can quite easily insert them in my blog by html in the correct size. I also use html for posting links, so no problem. The only thing that is now a bother, but only a small one, is that I still cannot use the paste on my mouse, but I avoid it with Strg V which also works. Also I am still scrolling to change to html.

Thank you for removing the “Beep Beep Boop” from the new editor. However, I still do not see a tick box to make a post sticky.
-
Never mind… found it. Left side, click arrow under “Preview/Update”, and click the radio button switch.

Hey wordpress, go back to the old editor. This one sucks. The only photos I have posted since the conversion to this new editor were accidental, and I have not been able to repeat the process. Hate it!

It’s been 11 days and people are still complaining about the same stuff. It’s apparently not going to get better. I have no reason to believe anything is going to change because they have fallen silent on these issues. It appears that they are tuning this editor for a specific type of user, of which I and the majority of people posting here are not included. I see no effort on their part to even address the majority of issues we have complained about. I am tired of watching this train wreck. I will simply use an external HTML editor and upload working code. It is stupid, but oh well.
I never had an issue with the speed in which the old editor loaded.
I feel there must be a reason for this odd behavior but have no earthly idea what they are trying to accomplish.
Why are their no posts telling us what is being worked on, and what has been fixed, and for that matter, what is not going to be fixed?
Ok, so WP Staff… You wanted to make a different editor. So you throw this cluster at your user base and say deal with it. Even if I could overlook that. Why have you made it more difficult to get to the classic editor? That is my only question.

I recently posted a question about not being able to see the “likes” on my blog. No one has responded. I don’t know where else to turn to get an answer.
I only found one thread in the forums and nothing in the help section. Unfortunately the thread is 3 yrs old and I tried everything suggested, but nothing worked.
Please advise what I need to do to have the “likes” show up on my blogs.
Thank you!!
Here is the link to my thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-arent-the-likes-showing-up-on-my-blogs?replies=2#post-2505770

I’m catching up on this thread. I’ll try to go back through some of the recent things in order.
@mindfulmomentsmeditation, it sounds like the trouble you’ve described is unrelated to the topic in this thread, so let’s stick to the other thread. I will reply there.

I am trying to compose a blog post and I seem to have lost not only autosave bit also both Update and Save. Plus, once I inserted a picture I can’t get a cursor below it so that I can continue typing. It will allow me to edit above the picture but not write new text after it. I still cannot load a blog post after coming out of Preview without having to exit the site each time and come back in.
I tested composing a blog post and both autosave and adding content below an image is working for me when I test. Can you please let me know your browser version and OS?

I use an eye tracking device to write because I have ALS and am unable to use my hands. Any change is a challenge for me. Because a stray eye click once hit “publish” on a post that was nowhere near finished,
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you had with accidentally publishing a post before it was finished. Was the main problem in that case due to the Publish button being on the left instead of the right side of the screen?
I now write using WordPad on my device, then copy & paste into WordPress when ready. I paste using a right click in the body field. But this no longer seems to work. No “paste” option. Why?
This sounds to me like a bug. I checked and there was already an issue filed for it but it mentioned the problem only happens in Safari. Is that by chance the same browser you are using? If it is, one thing that may help would be to try from another browser, such as Chrome, if that is a possibility. If you are unable to use another browser as a temporary workaround, please note that we are working to get the bug fixed.

Oh I don’t like this one bit! I’ve tried to select and scroll copy material and this version will not scroll down at all!
I tested selecting and scrolling content in a long post at https://wordpress.com/post in three separate browsers: Chrome 46, Firefox 42, and Safari 9.0.1 on a Mac and it worked in my tests.
May I please ask what browser version and OS you are using when the select and scroll problem happens?
The page is too narrow, and the side menus keep disappearing! I’m constantly having to reselect my widescreen option and when I preview a page,
There is an advanced option that you might prefer when previewing, and that is to press the command (Mac) or control (PC) key while clicking the Preview button and that should make the preview automatically open in a new window or tab in most browsers.
I’ve lost the options to click on upper tab links to move between pages.
I’m so sorry but I’m not sure what the upper tab links you’re referring to are. Can you help me understand by describing it in another way for me?

I can add a caption to images in my post by clicking on the appropriate button, and I can select the caption text and type over it, but when I try to paste something (with or without formatting) the pasted text simply appears below the entire image (including the caption). How do I prevent this? My current workaround is to edit the HTML but this is tedious if I have lots of images. Is this just a bug?
