Editor Feedback

It does not load, as plain as that: When I try to edit an existing post, then on the top left there is a message “loading post” — and then nothing else.
-
I had the joy of trying to edit my pages in the new editor once again today.
I could not add a table to the text and I could not delete a link without deleting the actual text and then re-keying it.
Both things work extremely well in the WP Editor and I can’t see why you wouldn’t want these facilities if you were updating your blog on a phone or tablet
….. total madness

Among many nuisances caused by the minimal new editor is the loss of settings options when inserting an image into a post. They are crucial.
Another real pain is no access to GET SHORTLINK in the editor after publishing (and incidentally on the front VIEW page of the blog where it used to be included in the dropdown menu). Now to find any post’s shortlink, you have to revert to the old-style Admin dashboard and conduct a search for the specific post, then call it up to copy & paste the Shortlink.
No toolbar in HTML mode seems perverse and doubles all effort.
Wordcount is another annoying loss. etc etc etc. -
PS – Please abandon all grey body type in forums, support and within the post editor itself. And INCREASE the native font size in edit mode. During the practical tasks of reading your advice, and trying to understand the WP manual, and then ESPECIALLY when writing and editing, we want the onscreen text to be as large, bold and clear as possible. In our backstage area we don’t need style flourishes with coloured fonts – we want basic readability.
All these reasons argue for WP to change your chosen font in HTML which is utterly unskimmable in a hurry, and scarely readable ordinarily because of the letter spacing and daft unintuitive letterforms. Why not use this font here which is simple and unfussy?

Re Missing Notifications (for info only on this thread):
After WP engineers provided their internet routing report TalkTalk Abuse Response Team stated, “I can confirm that our network team have advised that we are not blocking anything”!!This seriously begs the questions: what, where and who is not only stopping incoming emails but also producing false reporting??? It seems to suggest presence of a pervasive cybercriminal activity.

It’s been two full weeks since any meaningful posts have been made by staff. Surely 14 days would be enough to have made at least one meaningful change to the list of desired features. So many people have written posts to the tune of, I’m sure WP isn’t purposely trying to upset it’s user base. I do not agree. Perhaps hosting costs has made some bean counters force changes to thin the herd. When nothing makes sense then you need to change your perspective to find the answers. None of this makes sense, so the worst must be true.

I doubt they’re actively trying to upset the user base. They seem to be content to do it passively.
Far from thinning the herd, they seem to be actively trying to draw in the Twitter/tumbler crowd for whom the new editor is probably a model of sophistication compared to what they’re used to.
I’m inclined to agree with updedesigns. Pity, because many of those upset with the changes are the ones who are most likely to purchase the upgrades that keep this place in business.

Forgive, as I have only read the first five pages of this topic, but felt I should vote for my feature preferences. I’m using Firefox 42 with a Mac.
– I don’t see a way to add or edit forms with the simplified editor.
– I find the new photo editing features less robust – I don’t see the option to choose a preset size to keep my blog design unified – clicking and dragging will not be consistent, and memorizing and typing in dimensions seems slow and impractical. Additionally I prefer to add captions, alt descriptions and the like in the Media Library so that they will be consistently applied when the photo is used in more than one place. It’s not clear if metadata added to a photo on a discrete page or post will populate back to the media library, I’m guessing not.
– I feel there needs to be a way for users to switch to the full editing mode (WPadmin) from the simple editor, AND a way to set one to be your default. Currently, unless I set a bookmark in my browser (and that’s unruly when you have more than one or two blogs to edit) I have several scrolls, page loads and clicks to get from the simple to the full editor. Not a user-friendly process! AND I’d prefer WPadmin open in the same tab instead of switching to a new one every time.
– The main reasons I find I want to get back to the full editor are for little tweaks, like checking/editing the slug, modifying the date, modifying the visibility/status of the post, adding stickiness – many of the functions found on the right hand column in WPadmin, or in the Quick Edit feature of the View All Posts page. But also the reasons found above re: better photo editing, adding links to existing content (I understand that is underway), the ability to add/edit forms… I also prefer the smaller editing font so I can see and skim more of my post at one time.
I realize many of these points have already been made, but figured that this thread is more of a ‘voting’ thread than a troubleshooting one. So those are my ‘votes’.
This is all infinitely better than building flat websites in html and updating them by hand for clients, so I’m vastly grateful for WordPress. Keep on tweaking!
Thanks!

Oops, I see some of the functions are now on the left side of the simplified editor re: status, date, slug… but still not able to change status (draft/private/published). Still want more photo functionality, and forms.
I am also still missing the ability to see my most frequently used tags in the simplified editor. When tagging my posts I am using that feature heavily. Can’t really tag without it, and it would take forever to type them all in, even with autocomplete.

Oh gosh – and curly quotes. I want a toggle-on curly-quotes mode. (That would be icing, but I always forget the keyboard combination to get proper curly quotes.)

I’ve wondered the same thing. I unchecked everything I can find to uncheck. There is no point to this thread. They’re not going to do anything and it is cluttering up my inbox.
How do you unsubscribe to this forum?
-
Classic editor…. Why did you stop the redirection to the new published post after clicking publish from the classic editor?
Is this just another way to annoy your users?
I am at the end of my rope.
Why do we even complain when their mind is already set. Like a damn train on rails unable to steer into a new direction they move on their own idea.
What was their slogan again.
We care about your happiness!
Well I for one am not happy! -

I cannot find the unsubscribe link. I’m looking at the entire page, upper right, upper everything, nothing that allows an unsubscribe.

It’s in the sidebar. It’s a toggle. If you cannot find it then go https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/teepee12/subscriptions and click the “x” next to the thread title under Remove. -
I am unable to complete some of the tasks with this new editor that worked fine with the old one. Surely there’s been time enough now to work out the bugs. How do I add italics to titles? How do I properly size and position graphics in my posts? How much effort am I supposed to apply to screwing around with these things?

No Happiness Engineer seems to visit here any more. How come?
They did tell us to post our comments, questions, concerns, or kudos for the latest Editor changes here, because
“Happiness Engineers are standing by to help!”
