    MISSING TAGS!!!

    TAGS ARE DISAPPEARING PEOPLE!

    CHECK YOUR TAGS AFTER YOU PUBLISH!!

    this has caused me so much stress!! SERIOUSLY! my stats are completely low, I have had to not blog because it takes me so much more time to get a post finished because I have to constantly update the tags to make sure the ones I want are included!!

    I know other people are experiencing this, CHECK IF IT IS HAPPENING TO YOU TOO!

    I cannot add tags to my posts at all anymore. I click on an existing tag and the editor highlights “Featured Photo” without adding the tag. I have gone through my list of tags and none of them will be added. How can I fix this?

    Would anyone be willing to change my website to self hosted for a fee. I am not a stupid person, but when it comes to this stuff, I get a panic attack just thinking of it. It’s using the sequential theme. I’ve got months of work into it.

    I purchased a godaddy url two years ago. http://www.lynxmicrotech.com but I couldn’t figure out how to do anything! So they are charging me $300 annually for nothing basically. All I ever wanted was a cool website.

    @veryfungi
    Code Poet is a directory of WordPress professionals, web designers, and developers brought to you by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com and the largest operator of WordPress sites. Here’s the link http://directory.codepoet.com/ if you want to hire someone to set up and work on a WordPress.ORG software install.

    Know that at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ you find peer support forums and free wordpress.ORG software only. There is no wordpress.COM staff support, so you had better know how to manage your own site because a single bad plugin can bring it down and you are on the front line when it comes to fixing any issues on your own site.

    @veryfungi,

    Migration is quite easy. Here’s a detailed description: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-properly-move-your-blog-from-wordpress-com-to-wordpress-org/

    And from WP.com’s own documentation: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/

    The Sequential theme is also available for self-hosted accounts.

    Timethief is right: there are challenges inherent to self-hosting, though I’ve rarely had a problem with my sites—and I love to tinker! Generally, it’s only a matter of setting things up, then working on pages/posts the way you did previously.

    You could also look into a managed WordPress plan (your current host now has one) where the host handles the updates for you.

    You’ll have to deal with a bit more work and complexity initially, and you won’t have a forum quite like this for support.

    What you gain is flexibility, control, and a stable platform—no more endless beta-testing, features removed in the name of streamlining and “democratization,” or massive, ill-conceived changes to the interface and editor.

    I’ve been much happier on the self-hosted path, especially in light of the awful new editor. Any challenges I’ve had with self-hosting pale in comparison with the past year of changes, bugs, and design flaws on WP.com. You can keep both sites up while you make the transition, but I think you’ll be happier on your own.

    As a disclaimer of sorts, I had a self-hosted site before I created my site here in 2013 (different content entirely), so I was already familiar and comfortable with cPanel and the WP.org dashboard.

    @fjordaniv, I contacted godaddy and canceled my web builder service, and purchased the deluxe managed wordpress service. They have a migration tool but I need the ftp information to get it to work.

    Go to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/migration-to-godaddy-wordpress-managed-service?replies=5 and please do not post here about anything that is not editor feedback on the wordpress.COM editor.

    I really am not happy that the link to existing content option was removed for the new editor. I link to existing content in all new posts, so that was a pretty important feature. Now I have to go and manually search for the post and add the link. It is a pain in the butt to have to do it that way when I was used to the ease of just searching within the link tool in the post editor. Tags are also finicky lately. I would really appreciate the linking to existing content being added back.

    Hello fjordaniv, Thanks you so much for helping me. My site is now hosted by godaddy!!! My daughter helped me move the site. Just had to wait for her to visit from college over her break. She also went in and edited the CSS so I no longer have to do complex div structures to get breaks after images. I no longer have to tell it my pictures need a border either. We created custom colors for the theme and adjusted the padding to be a little more compact. It’s easy to use and work with again. Although I couldn’t have done it from the links provided alone, and no one even bothered to get back to me from the codepoet site, not a single one. I can tell you it is nice to have a stable editor and it would be worth it for anyone complaining in here about the new “improved” editor. In a happy place, finally! :)

    @veryfungi (and others frustrated with the new editor),

    Congratulations! The initial transition to a self-hosted site is probably the most difficult part of the process, but having a familiar and stable interface free from the vagaries of the design team should more than make up for it.

    WP.com will doubtless work out many of the kinks in the new editor, but for those frustrated with the new design, the endless beta testing, and WP.com’s new direction, be aware that there are alternatives out there.

    I am still unable to paste text into the caption area of an image as shown in the editor. The text simply appears directly below it. The only way I can get text into the caption area apart from typing it is to edit the HTML, find the particular image, and paste the text there.

    Wow. I start writing an article and after a few letters the text continues in the tagbox.

    No staff in this thread, no fixed bugs, not improvements (which means in this case: getting a bit closer to what we had already) and some new extremely annoying bugs.

    Wow. Happy new year.

    Oh! I see the reason: The board has been taken over by Korean bots.

    Time for FACEPALM and LOL, anything else is wasted.

    Help… When I make a post, if there are more than two words in the title, there is an extra space between the next to the last word and the last word. Any ideas why this has started happening?

    Here is an example of this… http://tedbooksdailypics.com/2015/12/25/merry-christmas-from-tedbook/

    @tedstrutz
    Posting that into this thread is a waste of time. Click this link and create your own thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

    Thanks, timetheif, I just realized that.

    I set up quite a few ‘new’ posts on the support forum for the particular problem I was having which I also put on here (about the 700th comment I think). No-one replied to any of them so I just figured out in the end what extra coding I had to make myself. I’m getting better at html that’s for sure!
