Editor format

Why has the former, better, editor format been replaced by an inferior one?
Reduced formatting – titles, colours, fonts, etc.. Restrictive tags and categories.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is this a response to my question?
If so, my question has not been understood.
Many of the original formatting options have disappeared.
The stored category list is truncated.
    Similarly the tags.
The option of old and new versions has disappeared.
An associate blogger has also criticized the new version.

    Hi Ken,

As part of a series of new features being developed at WordPress.com, our team released the new editor you see at https://wordpress.com/post. We included the most popular features from the classic editor, so there are some features from that classic editor you won’t see in the new one.

Our team is continuing to collect feedback about the new editor and I’ll certainly pass along the feedback you’ve already noted here. However, I do have a question about the formatting you mentioned — all of the same formatting options are available at the top of the visual editor in both the new and classic editors. If you’re missing specific options there, can you please let me know exactly which buttons aren’t appearing so I can investigate that for you?

If you’d like to get back to the classic editor, you can head to your My Sites page and click the “WP Admin” link there. That will get you to the classic dashboard, and you can go to Posts > Add New to start a new post there.

Alternately, you can bookmark the direct link to your site’s classic editor:

    https://tgrule.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help.

    Hi Rachel,

    Thanks for your response,

The formatting bar is a single line starting with the bold tool.

Missing is the whole second line that allows editing of the font, ‘paragraph’ ‘heading sizes’ etc, indenting, revert back from last change, text colour, etc.

Thanks for showing me how to go back to the classic editor version, I am happy with that. It has been a ‘click to change back’ option displayed on the new editor page, not there now, but I can cope using your suggestions.

I was also preferring the old ‘categories’ and ‘tags’ system.

    Thank you,

    Regards, Ken.

    Hi Ken,

In the new editor, you can click the “Toolbar toggle” icon (the last button in the row) to get the second row of editor buttons to appear. That will give you all the same buttons that you see in the classic editor.

I’ve also passed along your feedback about the classic editor’s system for categories and tags. If there’s anything more I can do, please let me know! :)

Thanks Rachel, that was all too simple, sorry I didn’t work that out myself.

Re categories and tags, not so much a drama, but the classic editor was more comprehensive. It would suit me if the new editor retained the “editor toggle” button but no big deal now I know how to select the old one.

Thanks for all your trouble to keep me happy! J

    Regards, Ken.
