Editor stopped working?
-
If it wasnt there 30 minutes ago for me, but ‘magically’ re-appeared, it may show up in a back button page on your browser…
-
Volunteers do not have backend access to blogs and cannot restore what has been lost. Support is closed for the day folks. It will open again between 9-5 PM Pacific.
-
Going back in your browser does not work for a draft. It is gone. I don’t know about posts…
-
-
-
If you cannot find your post or page in your drafts, WordPress.com doesn’t have it, and we’re really sorry.
This was a nasty bug that we fixed very quickly, but not quickly enough for those of you in this forum thread. If it’s an old post, you can try looking for it in your blog’s feeds, in feedburner/bloglines/etc., or google cache.
-
Meanwhile I’m willing to place a bet that staff are working their butts off in the backend. Please do not flood them with email and support tickets. They monitor these forum threads. So the best thing for everyone posting to this thread to do is to take a break. When you return some “magic” may have taken place, or not.
Best wishes to all – I’ve been there and I know exactly what a bitter pill this is to swallow. I join the sacredpath – my heart goes out to you.
Reminder -> use an off-line blog editor and subscribe to your own rss feeds

Well this settles it…
“You’re getting this message because we believe you may have been recently affected by a nasty bug here at WordPress.com.
Upon saving a post, the post’s content was unable to reach our databases and was lost. We fixed the bug very quickly, but some of you still probably lost some content.
If you were editing an old post, you can see if that post’s content is still in your feed or cached on google. If it was a new post, the information is gone.
On behalf of everyone at WordPress.com, I apologize for this serious inconvenience.

Thanks to mdawaffe Hailin for responding and to sassifer for posting the response she received. Bugs happen and life goes on … sigh
My next post will be “Do You Have A Blog Back-up Plan?” I’ll write it tonight. -
Alright well.. time to try to re-write everything.
Thanks TT, Sacred, Mark, mdawaffe and others for your help in trying to sort this out.
Nite..

Sleep well sassifer – I’m so sorry that this happened to you and to all the others too. :(

Same issue here, it went down blank, but previewing showed the content. It started working again when I copied a plain text of the content into the editor, I made changes and saved it. Saving worked, but subsequent changes of that lucky saving are not being saved again…
I have also experienced this with blogger platform… who knows
good luck WP!

It would be nice if WordPress could give all bloggers a 24 hours backup “basket”. A feature that stored all ones writings for 24 hours – also what the blogger edits away from a post. A self-deleting track record. 24 hours capacity should be enough. WordPress have never been down for days.
The thing is, that WordPress already have backups of our writings. We just need access to a fraction of it: 24 hours.

Uh-oh.
Had you previously saved before the bug struck you? If so, at least part of it will still be in “drafts” (hopefully). If you hadn’t, but it had been a while, the autosave could have saved some of it as well. Did you try going to manage > posts and clicking on the “status” bar at the top and selecting draft and then clicking filter to see if it was there?

The posts did not get into the database and therefore could not be backed up.“You’re getting this message because we believe you may have been recently affected by a nasty bug here at WordPress.com.

I guess my WP is totally crashed. Categories won’t work properly (I can’t see all categories or hierachys). Editor won’t allow me to paste images… when I save they just dissapears. Favourite articles widget stopped working. Whaaaat?
Seems like some old categories come and go time and then… I see some old test categories which had been gone for hours. Im confused…
-
I managed to save my post but couldn’t upload any images. I copied it over into a Word doc just in case. Hope they fix the bug soon! Thanks to everyone for the information- bad as it is, it’s good to know WordPress is aware of it and it’s being worked on.

@kharisma
I can’t tell by the blog linked to your user name, are you hosted here at wordpress.com?If you are, what browser and version are you using and what operating system? There have been some reports of FF for windows having issues with “send to editor.”
Sidebar widgets are cached, so I would give it an hour or so to see if the categories straighten out. With the recent editor issue, the volunteers here in the forum do not know what was require for them to get the bug under control, so there is a possibility things may take an hour or so to settle down.
