Editor stopped working?
-
Sigh! I just did a couple test posts; saving and continuing, saving, publishing, then going back and editing them several times and cannot reproduce the problem. The reason I can’t may be that I was not editing or posting during the problem last evening. This leads me to suggest the following knowing it’s a long shot but worth a try.
Log out of your wordpress account and even go to another web page (not on you site). Clear your browser cache, then delete all your cookies and close your browser. Start your browser again, log in and see if you can create, save, publish and edit a TEST post. Don’t work on anything important yet.
Post what happens here, good or bad.

Unfortunately that doesn’t help me. =-(
Another note – When I turned on the computer this morning i was mysteriously signed out of WP. I haven’t been signed out.. ever. It is set to “remember me”.
-

nope doesnt work. I can make a post, yes. But i can not edit it and put the “more” tag in!
-
finally worked out how to clear cache and cookies, closed and re-opened firefox bowser, attempted to create a post with only a jpg image – post appeared, no image!
-
Sigh again. I had hope folks. I’ll try going back to my test post and see if I can add a more tag.
Yep I can add a more tag. Well I’m out of ideas.
-
A question: Is anyone experiencing the problem this morning that was NOT editing or posting during the bug last night?
-
-
Uhmmmmmm my mouse over links aren’t working?? When you mouse over WP usually pops up a little window for preview of the link.. yah that ain’t working either ^^
-
If you edit a post with a “more” tag and hit “save and continue”.. when it continues.. the tag is magically gone.
-
Aha! I can view my HTML code if i do NOT try to insert a “more” tag. Otherwise, when I do.. and click on the “Code” tab.. it just shows the “Visual”. The HTML is not displayed.
WOOT! I can put “more” tags in if I edit them in the HTML editor ONLY.
For those of you who do not know.. while in HTML.. hit Alt+t and there ya go!
-
For clarity. The purpose of the more tag is to truncate lengthy posts appearing posts on the front page of your blog.
(1)When the post with a “more tag” is situated on the front page of the blog the text will be truncated at the point where the tag was inserted.
(2) When more recent posts replace the post with the more tag on the front page that first post with the tag moves back onto interior pages – the more tag is there in it – but, the more tag does not truncate the post on the interior pages. -
These are the posts I was editing. http://sassifer.wordpress.com/
Two posts on the front page.
-
All three posts on your front page do have “more” tags. I clicked on each one and they are working fine.
-
TT – Yeah, they do NOW lol. Before I couldn’t add more tags to the first two at all. I can only do so when editing it through HTML directly.
thesacredpath – works fine! Just the same as it does when I make sure to only edit the Code and not the Visual when this option is turned on. Excellent work guys.
The only question now is .. A. Why is this happening? and B. Why are the links not showing previews?
-
@sassifer
I think you can tell that we volunteers do not know the answer to your why? We have no more information than you do … lol. There is no special channel of communication between staff and volunteers and staff. We all have exactly the same information or shall I say, lack thereof. …lol :) -
I’m having the same problem exactly as worththetrip describes. I lost the post I wrote last night when I hit publish. I re-wrote it more or less the same, and was able to publish it the second time. However, I realized that a link I thought I made didn’t survive publication. I tried to edit several times to replace the missing link, only to find that the edits wouldn’t stick and that I couldn’t access the coding.
I published a new post that contained the missing link. I’ve tested things out, I cannot edit or access the code section on the post I published at 20:07 last night or any older posts or pages; however, I am able to edit the entry I published with a time stamp of 21:27 (October 18) So it appears that I can only edit entries or material created after the issue occured last night, but nothing that was in existence at that time.

The script that might be causing problems:
wp-includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_gzip.php?ver=20070528
case "get_from_editor": // Parse all img tags and replace them with <!--more--> var startPos = -1; while ((startPos = content.indexOf('<img', startPos+1)) != -1) { var endPos = content.indexOf('/>', startPos); var attribs = this._parseAttributes(content.substring(startPos + 4, endPos)); if (attribs['class'] == "mce_plugin_wordpress_more" || attribs['name'] == "mce_plugin_wordpress_more") { endPos += 2; ...var attribs = this._parseAttributes(content.substring(startPos + 4, endPos));
bold line appears to return the error: “this._parseAttributes is not a function”The post I was editing, and is still not working, has an img, but no “more” tag…
