Editor will not load

For the past two days I have been unable to effectively add new posts or edit old ones because the relevant page will not load. I can get to the “Posts” page but when I click on an individual post to edit it, or click the “Add post” button, I just see the loading circle go around for several minutes before the page crashes and I get a “This site can’t be reached” message. I have tried this on two different computers and using three different browsers. Occasionally I have managed to get into the editor only to find that when I click “publish” it crashes again.

I tried to replicate the issue on my end but didn’t come across any problems. It’s getting worse now: I can load the Jetpack Stats page as normal, but when I click the “Posts” button on the sidebar, the page crashes. I have tried doing the same thing on paullholmetower.org.uk and get the same result.

I can imagine this is pretty frustrating! I appreciate that you’ve done some essential troubleshooting, using a couple of different computers and browser windows, all with the same result. And, the issue persists across more than one site on your account.
I know it’s also frustrating that we keep asking you to try different things. Right now you are our eyes, because we’re unable to reproduce the issue. I dug around for any clues, so I could save you some work, but I wasn’t able to find anything helpful.
Can you think of anything that might be consistent across the devices/browsers you tested? Is there a security application, or browser extension? Can I have you try on your primary computer but use an incognito or private browser window to see if that improves things? That will at least help us continue to rule out potential issues.

I already tried private browsing yesterday and it made no difference.
As of right now the problem seems to have abated and I can edit as normal. I will post here again if the issue reoccurs.
