  Can you host a University website at WordPress.com?

  I am exploring hosting options for the University I work for. We will be purchasing a theme to upload and we want to host off site. I was looking into WP engine, Pantheon, etc. I thought I’d see if we can host a University website on wordpress.com.

  I apologize, it seems I overlooked adding the link to our support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ You may find that hosting your own install of the WordPress software gives you the most flexibility for your needs. But again, it depends on what those needs are.

  Are you looking for an information site only? Do you need a wiki or forum? Here is a link to our support guide on creating a government website which may give you a better idea of what you can do: https://en.support.wordpress.com/how-to-make-a-government-website/

  Uploading custom themes is only available on WordPressdotcom’s Business plan. You can read more about that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/

  It sounds like as long as we use the business plan we can do it. Do you have any documentation on how to point a .edu to a WordPress.com site?

  I appreciate your help, thank you. I have one more question; can we pay for the business plan annually? Our purchasing department will not allow a monthly subscription.

  All the payment for the subscriptions is made annually. WordPress doesn’t have any monthly paid subscriptions.
