  Hello, I am trying to develop a website for a college course using php. I am trying to learn both wordpress and php through this project. My question is how do I get developer access with out paying for business plan. this site will not be published for anyone and is solely for my own education. Is there a way to preform developer operations with out purchasing the business plan?

  At WordPress.com, you can’t have an access to the PHP files. You can only use Custom CSS to modify the design of the website if you have a Premium or a Business Plan.

  Hi there,

  For what you want to do you’ll need the self-hosted version of WordPress instead. As you specifically want it for development purposes, you should be able to get by on some of the cheaper hosting plans available on the web, so I suggest you take some time to see what’s available.

  It is also possible to install and run the WordPress software directly on your computer with a virtual server. You can find information on how to do that here:
