Eighties Theme – Facebook Widget from Footer shows up in Navigation
-
Only on this page: https://charlired.wordpress.com/project-type/cosplay/
the Facebook widget lays over the navigation (when opened). How to fix that bug? I think a #page{ z-index: 1;} would just fix it, but on the other pages there is no problem and of course i cant use CSS in this free version of the theme. I really dont get it. :/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
What do you mean by opening the Facebook widget? I don’t find the effect you describe.
-
Opening then navigation (top left symbol)… then there is the Facebook widget laying in the navigation overlay above the navigation. But only on he cosplay page.
-
Evidently I’m still misunderstanding your meaning. When I click on the three-bar icon, opening your navigation menu, it covers the whole screen regardless of which page, post, project, or archives page I’m on. I’ll tag the topic for staff attention.
-
Of course the navigation menu is covering the full screen. But dont you see the Facebook Widget (normally located in the footer) laying over the menu?
This happens even in FF and Edge AND on my Android Phone… :/
-
Thanks for the screenshot. Yes, I see it now on Google Chrome, though I hadn’t seen it with FF. In fact, with my Firefox setup not only didn’t the Facebook Widget relocate on the Cosplay page, but no images are displayed in the widget on any page, post, etc. Hopefully staff will be able to provide an explanation and a solution.

Ok thx. I tested a fix with Chrome Developer Console i mentioned above. That would work, i think.

Hi @mandrillsphinx,
I’ve had a look at your site and am seeing the Facebook widget cover the menu — only on the Cosplay page:
https://charlired.wordpress.com/project-type/cosplay/
I’ll look into it and come back to you when I have a better idea of why it could be happening.
-
yeah thx.
Just doing this:
#page{ z-index: 1;}would fix it, too, i think.
I know its weird though, cause its only on this page. Perhaps there is something not closed in the content…

Hi mandrillsphinx,
Perhaps there is something not closed in the content…
I thought so too but I had a look at the widget itself and couldn’t see anything that looked out of place. I can’t see any unclosed elements in your projects either.
I know its weird though, cause its only on this page. Perhaps there is something not closed in the content…
I’m checking with our developers to see what their thoughts are. When I get a reply, I’ll post an update here :)

Hi @mandrillsphinx,
I submitted a bug report but I’m still waiting to hear back about a fix.
Don’t worry, I won’t forget you are waiting :)

Hi @mandrillsphinx,
The odd Facebook overlap issue in Eighties should now be fixed.
You were correct about the cause in one of your previous comments – one of the closing tags on the portfolio archive page was mismatched, causing some malformed HTML.
Thank you for reporting this issue! If you have any questions, or run into anything else we can assist with, just let us know!
