Elegant Grunge: WordPress.com – Excerpts instead of full posts
-
Hello folks,
I love the Elegant Grunge theme, but I’ve found that I much prefer to have ‘excerpts’ for my posts rather than displaying the whole thing..
Does anyone have any idea how I can do this with the wordpress.com theme (I’ve read up on manual excerpts but I still can’t figure out how to apply it on non-wordpress.org sites).
I’d love to be able to just limit the amount of the post displayed until it’s clicked.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Russ
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

additionally, Excerpts would be perfect because then I could pick and choose which ones display fully or not (for example, the explanation post on my blog should stay full, but The Muses shouldn’t)
Just click my name to view the site.

Generally when a theme is adopted here, staff sticks with the original theme designer’s decisions and choices and doesn’t make any changes that are not necessary due to restrictions and/or unique features here at wordpress.COM.
You can use the “read more” tag which will break the posts on the main blog page at a chosen point and show only the content above the read more tag.

It doesn’t allow you to pick text out of the center of a post, but it at least lets you shorten them up.
