Eliminating an extinct blog from my menu bar

I let one of my blogs go extinct, but it’s still listed under my name. How do I get rid of it? There are rules for getting a new blog, changing the name, etc., but nothing about eliminating it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, could you please let me know the address of the site you want to remove?

If it’s a WordPress.com site, you can follow these instructions to delete it. Deleting a site isn’t reversible, and you’ll never be able to reuse the site address, so it should only be done if you’re 100% certain you’ll never want to reuse the address, otherwise you can simply set it to be a private site.

Just let me know if you need further help.

    The site is http://www.letstalkaboutfracking.wordpress.com

I followed the instructions to delete by going to dashboard>tools>delete site, but got this message: “Warning! You cannot delete a site if it has a domain registration upgrade because you need access to the site in order to get to the domain manager.” I don’t recall having a domain reg upgrade. Anyway, I just want to clean things up and get rid of it.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there – that site is connected to the domain letstalkaboutfracking.com, which expired a few months ago. If you don’t think you’ll ever want that domain again, just let me know and I can cancel it for you and detach it from your site. Cancelling a domain means that you may never be able to re-register it, so it should only be done if you’re certain you won’t want the domain again in the future. If you do want to try to late-renew the domain, let me know and I’ll tell you how to proceed.

Once the domain is detached from your site you’ll be able to delete it.

Thanks. Yes, please delete the domain and the site. I won’t be using it again.
