Eliminating White Bar & Extra White Space in Sela

Hi:
I just changed to the Sela theme and am trying to make it look like the demo. I’m close but I can’t get rid of the white box at the bottom of the featured image or the white box between the featured image and the widgets. Can you please help?

Hi there, the white box that extends up into your featured image on your main page is the div for your main page content, but I see you have not added any content to the main page.
On the main page on the demo site, that page is set to use the Front Page Template. There is setup information on the Sela Theme Showcase page, which you can use as a guide for setting your site up like the demo.
Generally it is not a good idea to have your main page without any content as far as search engines go since there is nothing to tell them what the page is about, and that can mean that your site will show up lower in search results.
If you wish to keep things as you have them (not using the front page template), we remove that content div from your main page. Go to Customize > CSS, delete all the informational text in that window, and paste in the following custom CSS.
