I am trying to change my email in Account Settings and am not succeeding. I got a message saying that the email was trying to be changed, but it never actually changed . . . said it was pending. . .

After you click “Save Account Settings”, are you going to your email and clicking the link that is sent to you by WordPress.com? No changes will be confirmed until you do that.
The support doc for updating an email address says this,
Once you’ve entered a new email address and clicked “Save Account Settings,” you’ll receive an email at the new address with a confirmation link. You must click the confirmation link to confirm the change and update the email on your account.

Jsase5 is correct. I would also add be sure to check your SPAM or Tab folders for the confirmation email.

Awesome! It just occurred to me to check the inbox of the NEW email address, where I followed the link and it is now done. I had previously been trying to respond to the email that came to the OLD address and there was no link . . . Now I got it! Thanks a lot!
