My account is associated with an email that is no longer active. How do I change the email? I have sent a request, but since I don’t have access to the email anymore (it’s from a former employer) I can’t accept that I want to change the email… I want to save the domain but get it all under one account. Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ha, thanks WordPress community. I figured it out myself: just delete the email. Save. Put in a valid email, save – click the link that is sent to the valid email.

Shoot, it still won’t let me delete my old blogs. Anybody out there that can help?? I can’t even get notified of posts via email because I don’t have the email. Le sigh.

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Thanks timethief. Once I changed the email to an alternate active one (hotmail), I was able to transfer the blogs to the other account I have (a gmail). I’m still working on getting it all tied up but this seems to have remedied the case for now.

Separate question: Can I completely delete the old account?

Although username accounts are not deleted at WordPress.com http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ please note the following:

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

    4. While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the “Edit My Profile” page here:
    http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/?noclose#about-you

You can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the “Hide My Profile” link in the bottom, right-hand corner.
