Email

I want this URL and website to not be a subdomain and have it’s own email and aliases available and I would like to work with mailchimp.com. How do I approach setting that up? The email I used to subscribe is NOT the email I want to use. It is the company email and is already hard to find important items. Every place it gets propagated in this system will cause me a lot of work getting it purged.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

Let’s solve these requirements one by one, shall we?

First, you can buy the domain outsidetheboxinsights.com or another variation and remove the .wordpress.com subdomain. To do this you’ll need any paid plan to be able to set your custom domain as your main URL, keep in mind that you’ll get the first year of your domain for free with any plan. Check the available options here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
And you can check available domains here: https://wordpress.com/domains/
Follow these instructions to add a domain to your blog: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/

After getting your new domain, you will be offered to add Professional Email to your account. Or you can follow this guide on how to do it: https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/

To work with Mailchimp, you can use the Mailchimp block. You can read about all the features it offers here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/mailchimp-block/
Note that there are some features available for everyone, and some that require a Business or eCommerce plan, like Mailchimp groups or Signup Location Tracking.
With Mailchimp you won’t have a problem with the email used, as everything is handled by Mailchimp and you can set up everything from your account.

    Hope this was helpful.
Let me know if anything needs clarification. Cheers!

    Thanks cuelin,

Very helpful. I bought the premium plan and the domain on the seventh (yesterday) and was expecting to get info on what to do next, but couldn’t find anything. Patternization LLC. is a research company among other things and I get an incredible number of emails from many sources every day. Thats why I have to have dedicated email for this sight or I won’t be able to competently make use of word press and associated plugins etc. Ill look again for an introductory email.

Email was my next priority for the above reason but I couldn’t find the info on how to set it up to use mailchimp. Do I need both Professional Email and mail chimp?

YouTube is also a high priority.

    Thanks for your help cuelin

    Chuck

    Glad I could help.

If you need to, you can also change the email address of your WordPress.com account, notifications about your page and blogs you follow will be sent to your registered email. You can opt to use a different email or an email alias so you can sort emails better from your side.
This guide will show you how to update your email. https://wordpress.com/support/email-address/

About Mailchimp, you can use it in any case, it doesn’t depend on Professional Email.
If you don’t really need professional email to be able to send emails from your own domain, a great option is to use Email Forwarding. With your Premium plan, you can set up 5 email forwards.

For example: if your email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff), and you have the domain example.com in your site, you can set up (email visible only to moderators and staff) using Email Forwarding. Emails sent to (email visible only to moderators and staff) will arrive to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Here is information on how to set it up: https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/email-forwarding/
