Email accident

Hi there folks,
I’m starting a new blog, however due to some issues with the signup process I ended up with two accounts: one with the correct username and an incorrect email address, the other with an incorrect username and correct email.
I deleted the account with the correct email, assuming that once it was deleted I would be able to change the address on the other account to the correct email address. However, WordPress doesn’t seem to recognise that the other account has been closed, so I’m stuck with an unusable email address, meaning I cannot validate my account and I cannot sign up for the mobile app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Hi there,
The other account has been closed, but the account data, including the email address, is only deleted after 30 days, to give you a chance to change your mind and reverse the process. Until the email is deleted from our system completely, you won’t be able to use it for another account.
To get around this waiting period, please reply to the email we sent you when you closed the account, and request that we immediately purge the email address from the account.
