Email account with WP domain in Outlook

  If I set up (email visible only to moderators and staff) via Outlook.com, does that enable me to SEND from an account sabine@mydomain via my email program Outlook?

  Does Outlook.com connect with Outlook?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi Sabine,

  I believe that outlook.com can indeed connect to Outlook, however you will need to configure them both in order to make that connection. Since we are not affiliated in any way with Microsoft (the manufacturer of both), I’m not able to give you any definite information about this however.

  If you do decide to use Outlook.com as an email provider, I can tell you that once they provide you with MX records (a kind of DNS entry), you can come back here, log in to your Dashboard, and enter it in to your domain’s DNS table in order to make it work. And if you run in to any troubles we’ll be happy to help out!

  Sorry not to have thanked you sooner. I find it soo confusing, having to ‘hop’ between email, web and domain providers, besides WP as the best platform there is.

  Since I publish http://www.mckenzies4fairness.wordpress.com which points to http://www.mckenzie-friends.co.uk, I want to use the email program Outlook to SEND as (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  I think I got the domain via WP, but maybe not.

  I only knew about Outlook.com from your Support page. Do I have to use it so that I can do what I want?

  Hi Sabine,

  No, you did not get your domain with us. I just looked it up online, and it appears that you registered your domain with 123-reg.co.uk. Your domain IS pointed towards our servers however, so any DNS changes would be made here with us.

  In regards to your mail, you definitely do not have to use Outlook.com. You can use any mail service provider you like, almost all of which will allow you to use the program Outlook to check and manage your email. I’m sure you’ve already seen this email page, but just in case you can’t find it, here are some email providers which our customers have recommended:
