    Hi all there

    I am driving slowly crazy… All the time I want to leave a comment on a wordpress blog and add my email address I am forwarded to the wordpress login page. But if I want to login with the noted email address I get the message that this email address is not registered.

    Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem? I just want to post comments on wordpress blogs without getting all the time requested to login with an email address which is not registered??? So actually I am not able to leave any comment!

    Hi there,

    The most likely cause for this is that we’re unable to detect you are logged into a WordPress.com account when you comment. This happens when cookies are not enabled in your browser or if something is blocking cookies.

    Please make sure that you have third party cookies enabled in your browser.

    If you’re using Firefox or Opera, make sure the tracking protection feature is not set to Allways On, or add an exception for WordPress.com to that feature, and if you use any browser extension like Privacy Badger or Ghostery, add an exception for WordPress.com there as well.

    Then completely clear your browser cache and cookies and log back in.

    Thanks for your reply. I checked the settings and the cookies are enabled in my Chrome Browser. The main thing is I don’t understand that when I want to comment with my emailaddress (email visible only to moderators and staff) the blogs switch to the wordpress page forcing me to login, but when I try I get the message that the emailaddress (email visible only to moderators and staff) is not registered???

    Not understandable for me…

    Okay, you didn’t mention that you’re trying to comment using an email address not connected to a WordPress.com account.

    It looks like you have another WordPress.com account, karteria121217. Does that sound familiar? Please log into that account and comment here to confirm that you own it, then I can try to fix this for you. But the issue is with that account, so I must have that account’s permission before I can do anything.

    You are fully right, it seems that kateria121217 belongs to me (have fully forgotten). But in the profile the registered email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff) and not (email visible only to moderators and staff).

    How can I solve this problem that I can comment post with the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) without getting forced to login?

    As I asked above, please comment here as the other username to verify you own that account and I can fix this for you. An error occurred when you changed the email address for that account two months ago, but fixing it involves me making some temporary changes to that account, so I can only do it with that account’s permission.

    Now I am logged in with this account you mean… Yes I own the account karteria121217 and I am logged in with it now!

    Thank you for confirming via the correct account :)

    The issue here is that your old email address somehow became stuck when you changed it a couple months ago, meaning the new address also didn’t get set properly. I added back the old address and removed it, and that has reset the new address correctly and completely removed the old address from the profile. So now you should be able to comment using the old address without being forced to log into WordPress.com.

    You might still need to clear your browser cache and cookies before this will work.
