Email address accessible to scammers!
-
Hi. WordPress allows our email address to be exposed on our websites, and as a result, been maliciously used for phishing, spam, and constant emails from people who claim they are promoters, etc. I receive several emails a day, and it has become disturbing. Why does WordPress expose our email address? The email address should automatically be hidden. We should not have to run through hoops to disguise it. WordPress site says our email address is exposed to accounts we subscribe to. A scammer can follow my account, and if I follow them back as a courtesy to what seems like a legitimate account, they have access to my email. This needs to be stopped. Lots of online information says that WordPress is not secure. I don’t want to have to use a WordPress email. Then I have to go through all those. Why doesn’t WordPress mask our addresses so spammers and the like can’t send us any emails??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com hides your email address from the public, especially from spambots, by using obfuscation (showing it as code) or by not displaying it at all in comments/forms unless you’re logged in and it’s cached, but you control the email used for notifications; site owners see it for contact forms, and it’s best practice to use a separate email for web activities to keep your main address private from everyone.

I appreciate your reply. But whether I hide my gmail, for example, or use a WordPress email address, scammers will have access to me. In gmail, at least they go right into spam. I also added filters to my gmail, with only some success. I keep updating the filters.
