Email Address already in use

Hello,
I am trying to change an email address for the admin of my blog to a different address. However, each time I do, in both general and personal settings, an error message pops up saying
“ERROR: That e-mail address is already being used.”
” ERROR: The email address is already used.”I found a chat thread that details my experience, but the solution was solved in a private message. Will you please advise.

Hello Sally,
Most likely another account exists with the email address that you are trying to use. My advice would be to try to recover the password for that account: http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-password
After you recover the password for the 2nd account, you can update the email address for the 2nd account to make the address you desire available for the 1st account.

We have the password for the other account and have logged in. The problem is there is no other blog associated with the account. Do I need to delete the WordPress account to free up the email?

No, you’ll have to change the email address of the other account to free up that email address for your primary account.
