email address associated with deleted account

    Hi – I’m just wondering when the email address with my previous WordPress account (now deleted) will become available to use again? At the moment its telling me that its already associated with another account, but when I looked at reinstating that one it was deleted and that was that.

    I’ve set up a new account with another email address but ideally I’d like to be able to re-use the original email address again at some point as its my main one. Will it stop being associated with the old account eventually? Thanks

    Hi there,

    When you close a WordPress.com account, the account stays dormant for 30 days, in case you change your mind and want to recover it. So once the 30 days are over and the account deleted completely, the email address will be released so you can use it for a different account.

    If you want to reopen your closed account, please reply to the confirmation email we sent you when you closed it, to request that.

    Hi, thanks so much kokkieh – that’s really helpful. I was convinced it had been over 30 days but obviously not!

    I’ve tried it again this morning and the 30 days must have just now passed as it allowed me to change to the previous email address, so all good.
