Email Address Change

I had used one email address for another wordpress account. Since I never used that account, I deleted it (and confirmed through the email). I would like to use that email address for my current wordpress site, but when I go to change it, it says that it is still in use by another account. Please advise.

With WordPress.com, blogs can be deleted, but accounts cannot. It sounds like your email is still associated with that old WordPress.com account. Log out of your current account, then log into the old WordPress.com account. Go to Account Settings (https://wordpress.com/me/account) and replace the email listed with a throwaway one. When you click the Save Account Settings button, there’ll be a message saying that there’s a pending change and to check your inbox for confirmation. Check the inbox of the throwaway address and click the confirmation link in order to confirm the email address change.
After that’s done, log out and then log into your current WordPress.com account. Go to Account Settings, change your email address, save changes, check your email, and click the confirmation link.
