email address change pending for several days

Submitted email address change to an account several days ago. Under Personal Settings, it says the change is pending. How long will this take?

That “pending” just means that the email change was requested, but the email that was sent to the new address has not been verified yet.
Our records indicate the email was successfully delivered to your new address. Do you still have access to it again? If you so could you please login to WordPress.com in another tab, then copy and paste the confirmation link from that email into the browser where you logged in? This will confirm the new email address and update your account.

I received and responded to the verification email last week, but no longer have access to it.
Note: Not to confuse the issue, but to explain .The blog account was under the email address of a now-retired library director. Although that email account had already been deleted from our system, I “recreated” it by adding it to my account as an alias, which is how I was able to receive the verification email and respond to it. After that was done, I deleted the alias, but have now set it up again so I can receive another verification – Could another one please be sent?

Hi there,
I’ve resent the email change verification.
This sends an email to both the new and old emails, but you’ll only need to verify the change at your new email address (explained here.)
Please let me know if you have problems receiving that email, or verifying it using the link provided at the new address.

I realize this is the same “verification” email I received the other day and my response was NOT to respond – I ignored it as instructed and deleted the email – but the account’s email address was not updated.
(Note: I just contacted the owner of the new email address and asked her to check for receipt of said verification. )

When a change in email is requested two emails are sent: one to the old address, and one to the new address.
The confirmation link that must be clicked (or copy+pasted into a browser) is in the email sent to the new address.
The email you’ve quoted me was sent to the old address.
Until the confirmation link is clicked from the new address’s email, the account’s address will not be changed.

I appreciate the clarification between a verification email and a confirmation email – that should take care of it then.
