Email address used for account I didn't make.

  Hi there,

  I wanted to set up an account on wordpress only to find that an account already exists with my email address and university login as a username. I definitely did not create this account and would like to have any account with the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) deleted so that I can create my own account.

  Hi,

  We only require an email address (along with clicking the confirmation link sent to that email) to activate a WordPress.com account.

  If someone else had access to your email account, that’s definitely possible.

  I’d highly suggest changing the passwords to your email address and WordPress.com account, just to be safe. (It’s good practice to do that regularly, anyway.)
