Email Address Verification

I recently renewed my domain name while also changing my e-mail address associated with that renewal. I received an automated message from WordPress.com indicating I needed to click on a button in order to verify my new email address based upon ICANN requirements.

When I click on the link, I am redirected to a 404 Page Not Found. I have been informed through subsequent emails that my site may be put on hold and inaccessible if I don’t confirm.

Has anyone else had this same problem and/or found a fix for it? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

  • Hi there,

I have sent you a new ICANN verification email. Please try to verify your domain again via the link in that email.

Let me know if it still won’t let you verify.

Thanks for the quick feedback and help in resolving this situation. I did receive the new email and have attempted to click the link, with no luck unfortunately.

Clicking on the button redirects me to the URL:

    https://www.secureserver.net/default404.aspx

Obviously, this is some default 404 page with the standard “page not found” message. I’m not sure if this is a common problem, or just specific to me. I switched from using a gmail account to an outlook account for domain name management.

If for some reason, it is easier to revert my email on file to the gmail one, I am not opposed to that course of action.

Thanks again for your help and look forward to resolving this one way or another :-)

  • Okay, it looks like there’s currently a problem at our domain registrar, which is why that link won’t work. They are working on fixing it, and I’ll update you and send a new link once they have this sorted out, which they have promised us should be in the next few days.

This should be resolved long before you start having any trouble with your domain, so you don’t need to worry about that.

Sounds good, thanks again for your prompt response. If I don’t receive an email by the beginning of next week, I will reply to this forum thread to check on that status. Take care, and have a great day.

  • Hello again,

Our registrar has informed us that this should be fixed now, so the link in the email you received yesterday should now work correctly.

If you have already deleted that email, just let me know and I’ll resend it for you.

Clicked the link previously sent and the email verification process was successfully completed! Thanks again for your prompt attention to this problem. Have a great weekend!

  • Thanks for letting me know.

Enjoy your weekend as well :)
