Email addresses
-
Hello,
For years I have been trying to create extra email accounts for the domain name. Unfortunately the con artists that originally built my website have told me that they never created the email address in the first place, and when I look on my WordPress dashboard, there’s no information on my email addresses and how I can create more. When I go to ‘Plan’ none of the options refer to any service I’m receiving right now.
Please can someone help me and tell me how I create more email accounts? My business has grown massively and the entire team have to use one email address.
Also the con artists also set up another email address but as they claim they didn’t create this in the first place, they have said that they don’t have any of the login information.
Nobody else set this up and they’ve told me they refuse to help me ever again with this issue.
My billing is through WordPress for G Suite but there’s absolutely no information in all the usual spaces. I can’t go another year with one email address.
Please can someone help point me in the right direction?
Many thanks,
Charlotte

Hi there,
I can see in your account history that your site was hosted with us once (around 2019-2020) but sometime after that you appear to have moved to a different provider. It’s difficult for us to see the details of this move but it sounds like this may be around the time you hired someone to build you a new site?
Also the con artists also set up another email address but as they claim they didn’t create this in the first place, they have said that they don’t have any of the login information.
I’m sorry that’s been a frustrating experience since then, the good news is that I can shed some light on your email situation. From what I can see when you first created your site with us you also registered your address (brownieandthebean.com) which was included free with our Business Plan, and you also added an email address via G Suite.
So that part of your developer’s story sounds correct, this is something that was created before they were involved.
If you start a G Suite account on this end but move elsewhere, it’s possible to keep everything connected, so that’s why the address has continued to work. However, the service was set up to work with sites hosted here at WordPress.com, so when the domain was moved to a new host, although the email keeps working, the ability to manage the account correctly is lost.
With this in mind I recommend cancelling G Suite on this end. This will NOT delete any email. That will still keep functioning as normal. Instead what will happen is we will return the account to Google directly, and they will contact you to ask if you want to set up billing with them. Once you do, you will have full access of the account including the ability to create new addresses directly with Google. We cover this in more detail here: https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/adding-google-workspace-to-your-site/#canceling-google-workspace

I’m glad to hear things are going well! I did want to add that you do have a second option here, and that is to move your site to us so we host it directly. One advantage of bringing your site over is that we’re a managed WordPress host, and provide built-in performance improvements, security hardening, backups, automatic software updates and server optimizations. You can learn more about that here: https://wordpress.com/hosting
Moving is as easy as installing our migration plugin on your site: https://wordpress.com/support/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/
The other reason I wanted to mention this is that under our Business Plan (which would be equivalent to the hosting fees you would pay for a business-class site) you are also provided with 24/7 live chat support with our Happiness Engineers. Since the same parent company that owns WordPress.com also owns WooCommerce, this would also mean you would have a support contact for your site questions as well as your store questions. We would also be happy to help with your email as well. :)
Also I promise we are not “con artists” in the least. :)
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
