email already in use

  I’m trying to change email address in a wordpress.com account and it says email already in use.
  The problem I have is that there is no other account. How can I know what account they are talking about? If I knew what account, I would go change that email so I can use it on this website. But I don’t know what account they are talking about. Please advise.

  Hi there,

  I recommend you enter the email at the page below, so you can reset the password:

  https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  Once you’re in at the old account, try changing the email address to another one: https://wordpress.com/me/account

  Be sure to confirm the change at the address’s inbox!

  Finally, log out, and sign back into your main account. You should then be able to change the email address to the one you want to use!

  I thank you very much but it didn’t work. I did reset the password
  but it didn’t take me to the old account and the name the email said
  was kate993 and I’m sure that’s not the name associated with the email address I’m trying to use. I’m wanting to change my current website lawofattractionlifecoach.wordpress.com to have this apparent email address being used by kate993. How can I know what this old account is because it didn’t take me there? Is there any way you can tell me the name of this website? Maybe it’s something I don’t remember. Thank you.

  It’s probably easiest if you’ll email us from both email addresses: help at wordpress.com

  That way, we can verify account ownership, and help get this sorted. :)
