Email associated with my account has been deactivated

The email address I signed up with for this account has been deactivated (because I didn’t log in for 90 days!). It was a BT email and I’ve spoken to their customer service and they say there is no way to reactivate it.
But I can’t change the email on my WordPress account because when I try it says it’s going to send an email to the old address.
I’m in a Catch 22 situation. What can I do?

But I can’t change the email on my WordPress account because when I try it says it’s going to send an email to the old address.
The Update Email Address support page says:
Once you’ve entered a new email address [at Account Settings] and clicked “Save Account Settings,” you’ll receive an email at the new address with a confirmation link. You must click the confirmation link to confirm the change and update the email on your account.
Notification sent to the old a address may safely be ignored. Clicking on the confirmation link at the new email address will result in completion of address change.
