This is an alternate account I am using to make this post. My main WordPress account uses an email address which has been closed, and I no longer have access to. I am attempting to access the main account to make changes to my website, but password recovery sends an email to the closed email address. I also cannot attempt Account Recovery, as the Proof of Ownership information required was also on the no longer accessible email address. I do not know how to contact WordPress for support in this matter, any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

Account recovery can only be done in two ways: through the password reset form or the account recovery form.

If you do not have access to the email registered on the account and do not have the proof of ownership information, I’m afraid that not even the staff can help you to recover the account.

If the email account was closed recently, perhaps you could try to contact the email hosting provider to see if they’re able to temporarily re-activate it for you. I cannot guarantee if it’ll work but that’s something worth trying.

    Best of luck.

Thank you for the feedback. The email is impossible to recover now. I may however get the proof of ownership from the web designer, is it possible to recover the account with proof of ownership only. In appreciation, Lindy

    Hi Lindy,

The Account Recovery Form only accepts two types of proof of ownership:

Transaction ID when you performed the upgrade purchase for your site. You can find this on the WordPress.com receipt sent to you when you performed the transaction.

Activation URL is the link that WordPress.com sent to your registered email address when you first register the account. To copy the activation link, right-click on the link and choose “Copy Link Address” and paste it into the account recovery form.

Other than that, no other proof of ownership can be used to recover your account. So I do hope you have any one of the two that I mentioned.
