Email contact form

  • Unknown's avatar

I submitted a number of “contact” forms through my site as a test, and it doesn’t seem to be forwarded to my gmail account as it should. I set up the DNS on WordPress and double checked with GoDaddy support, who verified the email forwarding was correct, and set up with WordPress. The problem now lies with WordPress, but there isn’t a number to call and I cannot figure it out. Why are my submitted emails not going to my gmail account through my site? If they aren’t getting through, I’m unable to communicate with my clients. PLEASE help!

  • Howdy,

It looks like there was a typo when setting up your form. Looking at your contact page’s edit view at https://amodernface.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=86&action=edit, I notice that the contact form to value is set to an e-mail address at amoderndace.com instead of amodernface.com.

Can you check that out and change it to the right address, if that’s a typo? If it still doesn’t work, please do let me know and we can dive into it deeper.

    Thanks!

Thank you! I actually didn’t set up my website, but I’ve corrected the mistake you found. Are the MX records correct in having all of that information listed? I was told that the DNS only needed the first two addresses that are currently listed, not all four…but I don’t know if that’s correct, and I don’t want to remove the last two addresses listed without double checking first.

  • Correct. The first two are MX records which basically say “first try this one (with the 0 value), then try this one (with the 10)”.

The next two are CNAMEs, which setup subdomains, so they make email.amodernface.com and mail.amodernface.com go somewhere. If you don’t use either, you can remove them.

    Cheers!
