Email DNS
-
I have pointed my domain (breaknightfilms.com) from Register.com to WordPress. In the process I deactivated their complimentary webmail ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) I’m told by Register.com that what I need to do to get my email working again is to set up the proper zone file to point it to wordpress with CNAME and MX information. I have tried this but still have not been able to get my email working. Please help.

You’ll need to get the exact MX and CNAME records from your mail provider.
Once you have then, you can add them to your Custom DNS panel: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/

Hello Macmanx,
Thank you for the reply. I have gotten the exact MX and CNAME records from Register.com and I have added them to my Custom DNS panel and saved them. But I’m still not getting my email back. Should this be an immediate fix or is there a lag time? Thank you again for your help.

There may be a few hours until it starts to work properly. Unfortunately, we have no control over this.

Ok, thank you. I’ll wait and see. Just to be clear I understand, the idea is that adding these records will restore my email back to what is was? I won’t need to do anything else, just go back to log in as I have been?
