Email Followers

  • Unknown's avatar

I just posted my first post in about a month and didn’t receive an email like I used to and when searching for the list of followers, there is now only one email follower and that does not include me. I know that I had many more, but they are all gone. How did this happen and how can it be resolved?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Can you give me a link to the blog where you just published the post? I’d be happy to take a look and see what’s going on there.

To be clear, when in the dashboard checking my followers I am down to two email followers from over fifty just a couple of months ago. I appreciate your assistance.

Thanks for confirming the blog’s address. I checked your blog, and there are a couple things that might be happening here:

You currently have quite a few followers via Twitter and Facebook, so it’s possible that some of your email followers decided to unsubscribe from the email notifications and follow your blog via social media. You can see those follower numbers listed on your stats page, in the Totals, Followers, & Shares box, at this link:

Also, we did a guided transfer to move this blog to WordPress.org a couple years ago. Your WordPress.org blog has over 50 email followers, so you may be thinking of that blog instead of your WordPress.com one.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about this!

I don’t use my wordpress.org site any longer as the transfer wasn’t nearly as seamless as I had anticipated.

As the majority of the followers that were subscribed via email were my family I know for a fact that they did not change their email. I also know for a fact that as I was an email subscriber I too did not unsubscribe. The same goes for my wife, my parents, my sisters, etc.

Something has occurred on the wordpress.com side that has eliminated the email followers. I am hoping that this can be resolved.

Can you take a look at the list of subscribers to your WordPress.org site at the following link and let me know if they are the email subscribers you are thinking of? Here’s the link:

    http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/?blog=26620460&blog_subscribers&unit=1

If those are the right subscribers, I’d be happy to move them back to your WordPress.com blog for you.

That is them. Can you also add the wordpress followers back? If you check, you can see that it dropped from 6 to 2.

    I appreciate your help.

    Hi there,

We are in the process of moving your followers to your WordPress.com blog. The readers who subscribed in the WordPress.com Reader have been moved back, and we are working on getting the rest of your email subscribers moved back, too. Please let me know if you have any questions! :)
