Email Followers

I have had people tell me they subscribed to my blog and shown me the confirmation emails but they are not displayed in my email followers list. Any suggestions on why this is happening and what I can do about it?

Here at wordpress.COM subscribers control their own subscriptions and the frequency re: receiving our posts. We cannot subscribe on their behalf or adjust their subscription settings for them. They have to act.

In my case I have an example of a email subscriber who does not show up in my email followers. She get the notifications that I post but is not in me email followers list.
