Email Followers Issues
-
The sidebar widget that allows people to follow your blog by email also gives you the option to show the number of email followers you currently have. I see the number on my end and it goes up periodically, but when I go into the stats for my site, it says I have 0 email followers. Any idea what could be causing the discrepancy? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also, how do I edit my post? I didn’t want to show my blog, but WordPress added the link automatically.

Hi, I’ve removed the link. The followers number actually includes followers from all sources, not just those who follow by email. So it includes those who follow your site in the WordPress.com reader. And if you publish to Twitter, those followers will be included as well. I hope that helps.

Hey there! Thanks for removing the link. I thought the number might also count WordPress users, not just email subscribers, but the number of followers still wouldn’t have added up to what the widget shows.
How does Twitter factor in? Do you mean that if I have my account linked to Twitter for auto-tweeting when I publish a post, however many followers I have on that Twitter account will be added to the number of total followers shown by the widget? If so, that’s probably what I’m looking at.

That’s exactly right. They follow you there, and you’re set up to auto-tweet new articles unless you choose to suppress that. So they’re following too. :)

What sidebar are you referring to? Is this a plug in? I’m looking for an easy way for people to follow our site’s posts by email specifically.

Hi @seanf21, glad you asked! If you go to My Site > Customize you can see what widgets your theme offers. Most themes have widget areas, though some only let you put widgets in the sidebar and some only have footer widgets. A few themes have other widget locations.
In any case, if you’ll go there, you can choose what widgets you want to add. This one is called Follow Blog, and it’s built in for you. You just need to choose to add it and configure it as you’d like.

You bet, @steamgenes. I’ll go ahead and close this one out. @seanf21 if you need more help, feel free to open a new thread and tag it with modlook. Cheers!
