Email followers not showing up in list of subscribers

  Over the past two days, I have received notifications from wordpress that I have a new email subscriber (probably 4 total new email subscribers). Their emails all look long and complicated and a bit weird, so by the fourth one, I wondered if it’s some kind of spam? But when I look at my list of followers, they aren’t listed there. What’s happened?
