'Email for New Posts' toggled to OFF not working
-
At the moment I am getting a ton of email notifications about new blog posts from certain blogs to which I am subscribed – you know, the kind of blogs that post something every 15 minutes 20 times in a row.
When I go into Followed Sites > Manage – There is a list of all the blogs that I follow. When I expand the blog in question, the ’emails for new posts’ is toggled to OFF.
So my question is: why am I receiving email notifications for new blog posts from blogs to which I am subscribed when the ’email for new posts’ for that particular blog is toggled to OFF?
Do I need to be adjusting settings somewhere else in WordPress? Do I need to turn it on and select weekly instead of daily? Do I need to simply unsubscribe from that blog in question?
Thanks for letting me know :)

You ought to be able to unsubscribe here https://wordpress.com/following/edit locate and click the “x” next to any blog there to unfollow it and no longer receive posts in the Reader or by email.
If you are an email follower only then click the unsubscribe link in the bottom if the next email you receive.

Just to be clear though – I don’t necessarily want to stop following the blog in question. I only want to make it so that I don’t receive an email everytime they post something (which in this case is every 15 minutes 20 times in a row). Of course if one of the solutions is to simply stop following them then I will do that. But I would like to see their posts in the reader and continue to follow if possible, just not receive an email every time they post something…
Maybe I am confused – as I am under the impression that if I ‘unsubscribe’ that I will no longer be following that blog or seeing their posts in the reader?

Do these help?

Thanks Timethief, as always!
Those were indeed helpful – however WordPress might want to update their help files since they appear to have since made some changes. For example the ‘Manage Delivery Settings’ is no longer like it is displayed on that help file. And for example, I do not see an option anywhere to ‘block all email updates from WordPress.com blogs you follow’.
Instead the ‘Manage Delivery Settings’ brings me to a list of blogs that I follow and I can individually select the delivery options. This is good. However, this is what led to my original question, being that it was toggled to OFF for a specific blog yet I was still receiving email updates. I have therefore toggled it to ON and back to OFF in the hope that it fixes the problem and that I no longer receive any email updates for that particular blog.
Again, thanks for the help :)

Thanks for the suggestion. Are you able to confirm if what you did had the effect that you wished?

Thanks for the follow-up Bruce! Apologies for the delay of my reply.
I am able to confirm that toggling it to ON and then back to OFF has had the desired effect. In other words I am no longer receiving email notifications from those blogs from whom I do not wish to receive notifications.
Cheers!! :)
