email forward "confirmation challenge" message error

Upon setting up an email forward for a site user (editor credential), the confirmation challenge is sent to them. They click the button in that message to respond in confirmation of the forward, but get this error:

“The page you requested does not exist, or you do not have have the necessary privileges to access it. You may return to the dashboard of Shoreline Community Church by clicking here.
If you reached this screen by accident and meant to visit one your own sites, here are some shortcuts to help you find your way.”

The very same browser in which this message displays — is logged in to wordpress.com and the user is viewing the Admin panel to the site in question — in another tab!

In the DNS Tool, this is configured and listed along with other forwards:

(email visible only to moderators and staff) forwards to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    What dependency am I missing?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

It looks like that person is an Editor on your site. Only Administrator users can confirm email forwarding to activate it for a specific address. Can you please ask that person to forward the confirmation email to you or another administrator on the site? You can then click the confirmation button to confirm it for them.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

I wouldn’t have imagined this kind of policy.

Elsewhere email forwarding is enabled by a response from ANY recipient address. I.E. whomever has the link.

I’ve no issue with this wrinkle, I just couldn’t find it defined in Help. Not that I looked terribly hard….

Promise to close the loop after I’ve done the strokes.

    Thank you so very much!
