Email forwarding broken after editing DNS
-
My goal was to point my wordpress-registered domain to a new blog at a new non-wordpress site. I followed the instructions to edit the A-record and change the nameservers. It worked, but it also broke the wordpress forwarding of my domain email (which I foolishly didn’t think of).
The goal now is to restore email forwarding functionality ASAP. I can transfer the domain later to get the website working, but I can’t have no email for a week.
I have restored the wordpress nameservers, but I’m not sure of the originaly WP A-record for my blog, or if that’s what matters here.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
We do have an MX record that you can use to retain your WordPress.com email forwarding. I took a look at your site, and it looks like you’re moving to Tumblr.
You’ll need to set your A records to Tumblr following these directions:
And then set the MX Record, in the domain manager this will be under “MX Records,” you’ll want Priority set to ’10’, Host set to ‘@’, and Points To set to ‘smtp-fwd.wordpress.com.’
Please remember that DNS changes usually take several hours to fully take effect (and theoretically can take up to 72 hours).
Let me know if you need any help with those settings! :)

I no longer have the option to change the nameservers… I’m guessing that’s because I’ve turned “lock” off in order to transfer the domain. Would turning lock on and making these changes interfere with the transfer? And should I unlock it once I’ve made the changes?

Actually, it appears I can’t even change the lock status. It looks like it’s all unavailable due to the transfer. Can you confirm this?

Hi there!
That’s correct. Once you start the transfer process, you won’t be able to change the DNS settings. You’ll need to wait for the transfer to complete.
Once your domain is transferred elsewhere, you’ll no longer have access to email forwarding through WordPress.com.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
