Email forwarding gone and email not working
-
Hi there,
It’s been brought to my attention that my email is not working. After testing it, I get this message:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients failed.
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
I have also noticed that my email forwarding has disappeared. In Domain Management, there is this:
This domain currently has custom mail servers defined in its DNS settings. This means that WordPress.com Email Forwarding is not available for this domain, and that you should manage your email with your email provider.
The email servers for this domain are:
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.It doesn’t give me any options to add email forwarding any more. I don’t understand why this has changed as I always had my (email visible only to moderators and staff) emails forwarding to my hotmail account.
I would greatly appreciate any help with this.
Thank you!
Claire.

Hello!
I see that your domain is registered with a host other than WordPress.com here:http://who.is/whois/kovarikracing.com
This means that you are not eligible for email forwarding. Only domains registered here at WordPress.com can use Email Forwarding.
However, if you have an email address set up with your domain registrar, you should absolutely be able to adjust your DNS so you are able to receive your email. First, can you confirm with your domain registrar that no settings have changed on their end that would force you to adjust your domain mapping settings here at WordPress.com? You can ask them specifically, “Could you please provide me with the complete MX and/or other DNS records I will need to enter on WordPress.com’s end, so that my email on this domain will function?”
Once you have that information, you can return to WordPress.com and make sure your MX and DNS records are set up properly here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-other-email/It doesn’t give me any options to add email forwarding any more. I don’t understand why this has changed as I always had my (email visible only to moderators and staff) emails forwarding to my hotmail account.
Where and how your receive your custom email would be setup with your domain registrar.
Once you’ve gathered and confirmed all this information, please let me know if I can help further. Thanks so much!

Thank you for your help and your quick reply.
This is the information I have from my domain registrar:
The following nameservers are assigned to the domain kovarikracing.com. Select nameservers you wish to remove, or use the form below to add additional nameservers.
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMHowever, in wordpress I have:
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.Which is really strange? Google Mail? I have not changed my DNS settings on my wordpress account. Hmmm
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much.
Claire.

Here are MX Records from my domain registrar:
alt1.aspmx.l.google.com 20 update | delete
alt2.aspmx.l.google.com 20 update | delete
aspmx.l.google.com 10 update | delete
aspmx2.googlemail.com 30 update | delete
aspmx3.googlemail.com 30 update | delete
aspmx4.googlemail.com 30 update | delete
aspmx5.googlemail.com 30 update | deleteI’m thinking this has something to do with it.

Hi Claire, Thanks for all this info. I cleared away those extraneous records. It seems they were automatically imported a short time ago. You do not need them to make your mapping work, and they’re only impeding your email, so I’ve deleted them.
I do need you to re-enter your email forwarding information at Store → My Domains → Email. If you are not given the option to add that email forwarding information, you must refresh your page first, then try again.
That should do the trick. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!
