email forwarding not working

I read the docs and think I configured it correctly but when I test it I do not get the email forwarded nor do I get a bounce back. It just goes into the abyss. please help

Hey Brian,
It sounds as if you may be testing your email from the gmail account to which you’re forwarding your custom email. This won’t work.
Do you have another email account with with you can do your test? If not, please let me know and I can launch you an email from WordPress.com.

Hi thatrobyn, and thank you for the quick response. I just tested from my work email, really hoping that I would see things work. I am saddened to tell you that I did not. Same effect – email leaves, no bounce back, I go to my gmail account and no email forwarded – I let 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes go by and still no luck I’m sorry to say.

I created a test forwarding email address using your custom domain, and all worked properly. So, I’d like to have you do a bit more testing on your end to see if we can determine what’s going wrong.
- First, did you receive a confirmation email in your gmail account that you had setup the forwarding address? And, if so, did you verify it by clicking the link provided?
- Next, since you’re using gmail, did you check your Spam, Social, and Promotions folders for the email?
- Finally, I’ve sent you a test email to one of your email forwarding addresses. Could you please respond if/when you receive it?
