Email forwarding rejecting emails as spam
-
First noticed today, wordpress.com is rejecting emails as spam, rather than forwarding them. This is very disruptive. See below for an example reject message.
I see someone else experiencing the same issue here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/wordpress-forwarding-rejecting-emails-as-spam/
Any idea when this will be resolved?

Try these instructions:
https://wpmailsmtp.com/how-to-create-dmarc-record
It amounts to adding a new DNS record. In my case, (presumably yours), DNS was managed at wordpress. Wasn’t easy to find (for me) but go to:
https://wordpress.com/sites
Find your domain and select Domains and DNS from the “…” menuThen generally follow the instructions in the above link.
Sidenote: pretty lame that this happens and we’re all left to fend for ourselves for a paid service. I guess you can’t beat the price. . .. and you get what you pay for.Good luck.

Hi there!
We’re seeing a slight uptick in email forwarding ending up with Spam rejected messages, just like the ones you ran into recently. In other words, this is not just happening to you, as other customers who use email forwards are also running into this issue.
While we don’t have everything sorted out yet, our developers are investigating this actively now, and we hope to get to the bottom of it as soon as possible.
Thanks again for keeping us updated, and we’ll reach back out again soon! -
Everyone:
The developers reported that this should have been fixed for everyone on January 27th.
If anyone has had issues with this after this point, please provide the email addresses affected (visible only to Staff) and we can look into this further.
Thanks!

Thank you very much for fixing it so quickly.
I thought WordPress email forwarding didn’t do spam detection? I’d rather all messages, spam or not, were forwarded to my GMail, and let GMail do the spam detection, but then it can put them in my spam folder, where I can still review them and find ones that are mis-classified.

We have email filters in place for outgoing emails sent from our servers. This is necessary to prevent our servers from being blacklisted by email providers due to the potential for spam. We conduct this due diligence to ensure that legitimate emails from our customers are sent without any issues. I hope this explanation helps to clarify things!
