Email forwarding setup problem for blog Contributors

  I cannot seem to set up email forwarding. For 2 of the 5 addresses allowed, I want to forward to 2 people who are Contributors to the blog. They have both received the email from WordPress requesting confirmation (“Please confirm you would like to setup this email forwarding”), but when they click ‘Confirm Email Forward’ they just get a blank screen. I’ve checked through the dashboard and both of the addresses have the ‘resend email’ option, so I assume the forwarding has not been set up. What’s the problem here…?

  Sorry, should have mentioned – the other 3 forwards are to my email and they all seem to work OK. So presumably it’s nothing to do with DNS.

  Hi!

  I was able to set-up the domain forwarding successfully on a test blog. Can you try the following steps and see if it works for you?

  1. Remove the two non-working email forwards by clicking “Remove” under “Manage Email”

  2. Re-set them up again using the form.

  Please let me know if the link they are receiving is still sending them to a blank page!

  Thanks for this (sorry for delay in responding). Actually we managed to work around the problem. One of the Contributors forwarded their ‘confirm’ email to me, and I followed the link in the email while logged in (as me, Admin). This took me to the ‘Manage email’ page (ie not a blank), and on the face of it nothing had changed – however a test email was now correctly forwarded. I repeated the procedure with the other user and that also worked.

  We will need to set up a third Contributor shortly, I will let you know if that still redirects them to a blank page. I assume the problem is/was related to the permissions level?

  Hi!

  It shouldn’t have anything to do with their permission level. In theory, the email you forward to does not need to be affiliated with a WordPress.com account at all. Please let me know if you run into any trouble with the third contributor!
