Email Forwarding with Existing Domain
-
Please advise. My current email provider is saying the following:
“Also, we would like to address a point that was raised previously. As you
are aware, WordPress.com requires customers to use their name servers when
they directly point their domain names to their WordPress.com blogs.
Consequently, it is not possible to enable pairNIC E-mail Forwarding in
conjunction with this service, as pairNIC E-mail Forwarding requires the
use of pairNIC name servers. You can use pair Networks’ e-mail services
with your domain name under your current setup, but please note that
canceling your pair Networks account would also result in the loss of
e-mail delivery for netzer.org unless you used another provider.”Once I cancel my pair networks account, is WordPress able to provide the service or email forwarding with the netzer.org domain I have mapped?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Your email provider is correct. We recommend changing your name servers to point to WordPress.com when mapping your domain for best performance. If your current provider requires pairNIC name servers, that would cause an issue.
We do offer the ability to add email to a domain mapped to WordPress.com. The email service is not provided directly by WordPress.com, but we have instructions setup for several email providers here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/
Would that work for what you’re looking for? Unfortunately, it looks as though you would have to change email providers.
Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thanks Jeremy. All I need is email forwarding. The @netzer.org emails all should will be forwarded to gmail accounts. That shouldn’t be a problem, correct? It does not seem to be working however and I have the addresse forwards in WordPress. Do you think this is a conflict with the previous provider? Example – if I email (email visible only to moderators and staff) I’m not receiving the email at my gmail account.

Hey Justin,
It looks like this is setup correctly for the address you mention. Can you let me know the address you’re sending the test email from? If you’re sending it from the same address as the forwarding address (i.e. the gmail), the forwarding will not work.

You are a stud.
I don’t understand why that wouldn’t work, but that doesn’t matter. It worked when I send it from another account.
Thanks.

Not a problem Justin! I’m glad it ended up working out with another address. Let me know if you need anything else!
