  I wanted to change my email address. However it says it’s in use and I never created an account with it. When I attempt to sign in with the email I want to change to it says I don’t exsist. Please help

  Hi kaytlyndakota,

  Which email address would you like to use on your kaytlyndakota account? If you type the email address normally, it will be hidden from public view but I’ll be able to see it.

  Thanks — the email address is connected to an account that was closed a short time ago. Therefore, it will need to be removed from that account before it can be used on another.

  Please reply to the confirmation email we sent when that account was closed so we can help you there.

  We sent an account closure notification email to that address six days ago on 12 December.

  If you don’t see it in your inbox it’s possible Gmail might have filtered it. Please check spam, and also the Social and Updates folders.

  But that email will only be available for use with another account once it’s been completely removed from the closed account. This will happen automatically 30 days after the closure request, and to remove it manually before then we need the request to come from that same email address.

  @kaytlyndakota I can see the email was sent 7 days ago and received by your mail provider. Try pasting this in your search bar:

  in:all Your user account at WordPress.com has been closed

  If you haven’t already deleted the email, it should come up.

  Otherwise, can you try something for us? Your email address has a dot in the middle of your name, before the @ sign.

  If you remove that, the email address will work just the same. Your site readers will not see the email address, either. And the system will recognize it as a new address, so it will work. So if you don’t mind skipping the dot (or even adding an extra dot in the name without changing anything else) that should work.

  I’m tech savvy so I tried that too. And I do use without a period I was trying to use my dot one cuz of the link it sends to tye them together so I guess I’m out of luck
