thats what its supposed to do. and putting your e-mail like that will get you spammed. I will come back with a site you can use once I find it. It will let you post your e-mail address and prevent spamming and since your a teacher you definitely wouldn’t want that, students e-mails are probably bad enough.

The code for an email is this:
<a href="mailto:ADDRESS_HERE" target="_blank">VISIBLE_TEXT_HERE</a>
But publishing your email is a gift to spammers. Better try the WP Contact Form:
http://support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
(Note that it’s best to deactivate the comments in that page.) -
you need to create a “mailto:” link in order to make your email address clickable. Be aware, though, that displaying your email address like that will make it easier to spam bots to harvest it; I’d suggest you to encode it and/or generate an image of your email address so that it’ll make it hard for spammers to harvest it.
Check this web application out, you might find it helpful:

Just an observation, when you have a “href=’mailto:…'”, you don’t need the “target” property.

The mailto link is just like the code panaghiotisadam, wrote. But if, as suggested, you want to encode it so that it doesn’t get harvested by spam bots, then using an encoder is the way to go.
Following is your email address encoded with the web app I’m suggesting above.
<a href="mailto:vtesta@sju.edu">contact me</a>If you copy that code above and paste it into your post, you’ll see that it will generate a “mailto:” link, but encoded. If you want to make it more difficult to spam bots, then generate an email image and combine it with the code above, so it’d look something like this:
<a href="mailto:vtesta@sju.edu"><img src="[url/to/your/email_image.ext]" alt="contact me" title="contact me" /></a>That would make your generated email image clickable while remaining encoded in source.
HTH
(hopefully, the code above will be parsed correctly by the forum software)
