email migration

I am helping set up a website on WordPress to replace an existing site currently hosted elsewhere. Once the new site is ready, we want to use the domain name used with the existing site for the WordPress site. One issue is that we have email hosted along with the website at the other provider. I want to set up emails at WordPress with the same names, and I would like to move all the mail over from the existing site to the new WordPress site. The problem is that the email addresses can’t both exist at both places at the same time. I assume when I move the domain name over to WordPress, I will loose the email at the other place.
So, any suggestions on how I should proceed?WP.com: Yes

Hi there,
Are you planning to use our Professional Email upgrade?
To migrate, you’ll connect/transfer your domain to us, add the Professional Email upgrade for all the addresses you want, and that will set up the DNS records needed for that on our end as well.
At that point your existing email will stop working, and the new email on our side will be active instead. But you should still have access to your old emails via your current provider’s dashboard. Then you can follow these steps from our email provider to transfer your existing email archives across from that provider:
https://support.titan.email/hc/en-us/articles/900001261443-Import-emails-to-Titan
To be safe, perhaps just run those instructions by your current provider to make sure they can provide you with the IMAP details you need to do this migration.
I hope that answers your question, but please let me know if you have any others :)
