Email MX records

    Hi there,

We have our own domain which previously pointed to another website. We are transferring our domain to our blog. In addition to this we have an email address associated with the domain that we forward to another mail provider (BT internet).

If we are transferring Domain Name Servers from our prior DNS service to wordpress do we have to set up MX records on WordPress to do this? I have set up an email forward in the Domain in our store. Do I need to set up a MX record in the DNS editor too?

Are BT internet the people to provide us with these records? They have been telling me to look up this information with an IPCONFIG run command request but this seems to tell me about my IP address and not my mail settings.

    Can you help?

    Thanks
    Al.

If you are forwarding email ( your-name (at) leafworks.co.uk to your-name-2 (at) some-other-place.com) forwarding is all you need

However if the email address is associated with your blog here (your-name (at) leafworks.co.uk) then you will need to set up custom MX records here – the custom MX etc. record info needs to come from your email provider – BT

    Manage Your DNS Records

If you have trouble with the format of the MX records (they are very sensitive to formatting) – post them here and someone or the staff can help with the formatting
